I don’t know about you, but I associate Fall with comfort – hearty soups, a cappuccino warming your hands on a cold morning, cozying up with blankets and a few September issues, swapping those baseball hats for floppy felt ones, and of course bringing those sweaters and heavier fabric pieces into rotation. The wonderful thing about Fall in Calgary is that we get some beautiful days weather-wise, and the sunshine makes the transition away from summer just a little bit easier. I’ve mentioned before that one of my go-to outfit combos during this time is a midi skirt paired with a chunky knitted sweater. The bare legs keeps things cool, both temperature and look wise (wink wink), and the sweater keeps you feeling cozy.
Another easy outfit is the sweater dress – just one piece and you’re done getting dressed. Pair it with sneakers for an on-trend athleisure look, or wear some over-the-knee boots for an alternative to the usual peek of skin, and throw a long cardigan on top for those chillier mornings. When I saw this rib-knit dress from H&M I was drawn to the rich colours, plus it has stripes and slits – what more could a girl ask for!? This dress is ridiculously comfortable, it feels like you’re slipping into one big hug. The knit fabric is the perfect weight for this time of year – not too flimsy, but not too heavy either. The slits on the skirt and sleeves are a nice detail and allow the clothing to move with you, not restrict you. Another bonus is despite the fitted silhouette, you don’t have to worry about feeling conscious (no tummy flexing needed here!), this dress shows off your shape, but isn’t clingy, so you can eat all the apple pie you want!
Until next time,
