This past weekend I took a few days and went out to Radium for a little RnR. Even though it was only 3 days, it was so nice to take a break from the busy city and breathe some fresh mountain air. Radium is so peaceful in the winter, I thought it would be much busier, but it was so calm, and the perfect way to hit pause. Maybe it had something to do with the layer of snow that fell overnight – to me it always resembles a fresh start.

We stopped in at Radium Hot Springs for a nighttime soak – they’re probably my favourite Hot Springs. The warm pool is built into the side of a mountain, and the cold air against the hot water creates so much steam! I felt like I was in that episode of the Walking Dead not being able to see anyone until they were right in front of me. We also drove up to Invermere and walked around downtown. There were so many little shops and art galleries, and almost every storefront had decorations up! For lunch we stopped at Circle Cafe and grabbed some homemade soup and sandwiches (I highly recommend it, nothing fancy, but yummy food and friendly staff). Time flew by, but it was a much needed few days off with no agenda.

Throughout the year, it’s important to take a step back, evaluate where you’re at, appreciate where you are and where you’ve come from, and think about where you’re going. Especially around this time of year, it is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season, and sometimes we lose sight of why the holidays are important. Don’t get me wrong, I love big dinners with all the fixings, and I’m a little crazy and actually enjoy going to the mall to find last minute gifts – christmas tunes a’blaring and children lined up to sit on Santa’s lap (even though they’ll likely start crying). For me, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Not because of the gifts, or the stress excitement of organizing a big family dinner, but because I get to spend some quality time with those I love. Time really is the most precious gift. I hope you can take a moment to appreciate those special people around you during this busy time of year. Happy Holidays everyone!

Until next time,

Courtney
