Graphic patterns filled the runways in pre-Fall and Fall collections this year. Leopard print is back in full swing (let’s be honest though, I don’t think leopard ever goes out of style, it’s basically a neutral), ditsy florals from Spring/Summer are being carried through to fall, and another popular print was polka dots. The multi tone and overlapping pattern seen at Altuzarra played around with colour and size of the pattern, while Marc Jacobs used the classic black and white tones in their collection. Although polka dots have a retro vibe, the classic pattern gets updated this season with unique details and feminine silhouettes.

Zara recently released a mini collection called seeing spots that incorporated the print with other trends such as matching separates and cold shoulder cut out details. I decided to pick up this top from them that has a front knot detail. It adds a little something to an otherwise simple tee-style shirt and pairs nicely with some high-waisted jeans. Side note about the jeans, they’re from Abercrombie of all places (the 90’s really are back, and better than ever)! I used to wear their logo emblazoned sweatpants and hoodies in junior high, but was pleasantly surprised the last time I walked into the All-American clothing store. It’s no longer just a place to buy branded loungewear, they’ve incorporated on-trend pieces into their collections and transitioned a lot of their denim to more classic styles. I picked up a few pieces, and will definitely be back for more! Back to the main topic. I’ve linked a few other playful pieces I’ve been eyeing up with polka dots below for some additional inspiration of how you can pull off this graphic pattern for Fall.

The frill and high neck detail of this Topshop shirt are so feminine!

neck scarf is a simple way to incorporate the trend.

Pair this Zara skirt with a classic turtleneck and brogues for a polished fall transition look.

Until next time,
