Don’t get me wrong, I love playing around with new trends, and experimenting with different fashion pieces as much as the next girl, but when it comes to outerwear, I generally like to stick to the classics. This season it’s time to give your black coat a break and introduce your closet to the it item of fall: the camel coat. The neutral shade pairs with literally everything in your fall wardrobe – I dare you to find something it doesn’t work with. From a faded jeans, t-shirt and boots combo, to (early Christmas) party dresses and heels, this warm-hued wardrobe staple can be worn for just about any occasion.
While I always used to think that camel wasn’t my colour, this season I was determined to find the right shade that complemented, instead of washed out, my skin tone. And as it happens time and time again, it was Zara for the win. Side note: Zara has got to be one of my favourite places to shop for outerwear – they’re reasonably priced and have an endless amount of styles to select from. There are definitely some other jackets/coats/blazers I have my eye on. Okay back to this camel beauty. There’s something so effortless and stylish about the colour and silhouette. The details are simple with classic pockets and a 2 button closure, nothing fancy, and it doesn’t need to be. A nice touch is the peek of black under the collar. Button yourself up, flip up the collar, and throw a comfy scarf around your neck for a polished look on those chilly days. You can picture it now can’t you?
For the entire outfit, I decided to pair it with some classic high-rise denim, a feminine ruffle detailed sweater, some simple black leather ankle booties, a small structured purse (the one pictured is from Zara, but has since sold out, so I’ve linked a very similar one), and a rich berry-hued lipstick, because, ’tis the season.
Until next time,
